Protocol and Practice of Persons Appearing in the Court of Judge Jennifer E. Green

Specific Comments or Advice for Litigants

Specific Requirements or Preferences

During the COVID-19 pandemic, unless you hear differently from our division staff, our division is conducting all hearings telephonically using the Bridge Conference Line to comport with CDC recommendations and Administrative Orders from both Chief Justice Brutinel and Presiding Judge Welty. This is as to both delinquency and dependency matters before Judge Green.

Please call (602) 506-9695 and enter the participant code 363067#. Don't forget the pound sign (#). Judge Green will already have started the Bridge Conference Line. Please call on time and not early. When you enter the conference call, assume you are already on the record because you likely are on the record. Please mute your phone so all hearing participants do not hear your background noise. If people are talking, please do not interrupt to announce your presence on the line; wait for a break in the conversation and then announce.

Lawyers, please be succinct.

All exhibits any party intends to use and any publication documents must be emailed to the division and parties at least 24 hours prior to the hearing. Because the Bridge Conference Lines are being used by other divisions, and because in Juvenile Court the divisions share the same group of lawyers, this division will make every effort to start and end hearings on time. If you need more time for a hearing, please contact the division well in advance and request a different setting with additional time. Correction Officers calling in with litigants in custody should also use the Bridge Line.

If you need to request an in-person hearing, a written request must be filed at least 24 hours prior to the hearing and must be emailed directly to our division.

If you or someone you represent intends to appear in court and has been diagnosed with COVID-19, has had exposure to COVID-19, or has symptoms of COVID-19 as set forth by the CDC, the lawyer or affected person must contact the division by email (Shelby.DeMassari@JBAZMC.maricopa.gov) or phone (602) 506-0438 to have the hearing continued, to waive that person's appearance, or to arrange to appear telephonically.

Please do not arrive at the Southeast Juvenile Court ill and please do not allow anyone else to do so. Court Security has been directed to exclude symptomatic individuals at security.

When the court grants a request for in-person attendance at hearings, that does not mean all parties must appear in person. The court is mindful of our small courtrooms in Southeast Juvenile and is happy to conduct "hybrid" proceedings wherein one party and counsel are in person and others appear telephonically.

Please be patient. The court thanks all lawyers, litigants, and court family for their flexibility and understanding as we try new things to keep everyone healthy and safe during these most unusual times.

These procedures are fluid and will be revisited as we receive new guidance from judicial leadership and organizations like the CDC. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Judge Green's division at the phone number or email above.
