When a guardian or conservator has failed to notice the court when a ward has been relocated or contact information has been change, Probate Court Investigators will attempt to locate the "missing" ward and guardian/conservator. Probate Court Investigators also look into cases when someone notifies the court that possible neglect, physical abuse or misuse of funds is suspected in a case.
Probate Court Investigators are considered the "eyes and ears of the court." Probate Court Investigators must remain completely neutral on issues involved in the case and help the court decide the best actions for the court to take in each individual case. It is the job of the investigator to examine the situations involved in a case and report, in writing, the findings to the Court.
