The Beat Within - Back in the Day
I remember summer back in the day
Back in the day when I lived it my way.
I remember the feeling, the feeling was good
Until I found trouble and did things I never should.
And now for the last three summers in a row
I’ve been locked up here, stuck in Durango.
Bud don’t get me wrong, it isn’t that bad
Because at least I’m no longer roaming the streets confused, hungry and sad.
For me this is a chance, a chance to get clean
To me it’s a blessing—no more coming down with no choice but to fiend.
Because I was stuck on a messed up drug
Smoking my glass living life as a thug.
Walking the streets late at night
Ready to jack everything, everything in sight.
