Steven McMurry, Encanto Precinct A graduate cum laude of Rice University and ASU College of Law, and a third generation Arizonan, Steve McMurry practiced law in Phoenix for nearly twenty years until, in 1998, he was elected Justice of the Peace for Central Phoenix.

He was reelected in 2002. Also in 2002 he was appointed to the Judicial Oversight Council of the Limited Jurisdiction Courts in Maricopa County, where he is chairing a subcommittee developing proposed reforms for Limited Jurisdiction Courts.

In his role as a member of the Court Automation Coordinating Committee, working under the aegis of the Commission on Technology, he championed the launch of the web site for Maricopa County Justice Courts. He is currently working on a pilot for small claims filings over the Internet.
