Venue The city, county, judicial district, or other geographical area over which a certain court has power to exercise its jurisdiction. Verdict A unanimous decision of the jury or Judge at the end of the trial that the defendant is guilty or not guilty of committing the crime. Victim A person or entity against whom a crime is committed against. A victim is a witness. Victim Impact Statement A statement prepared by the victim that describes the emotional, financial, and/or physical impact the crime has had on the victim and/or their family. Voir Dire Examination of prospective jurors to determine if they will act impartially and without prejudice.
